Sonic Forces may not have a character select due to gameplay balances, but modders will probably turn their attention to it's unique Character Creation feature, such as adding additional content and features to it (such as clothes, body parts, cosmetics etc) as well as additional playable animal-races. It will save time and middle-man websites for mods and allow players to subscribe and enjoy the mods much more conveniantly than having to find, download them and put them in the right folders.īoth games may have Character Select and Level Select menus, so mods that you subscribe to could show up on these menus as additional content than the need to replace existing content. So I want to propose that both these games should have Steam Workshops for their release. Some may even attempt to port their Sonic Generations stages over just to see what it's like in the new Hedgehog Engine. So when Sonic Forces comes out, chances are mods will turn their attention to Sonic Forces to make additional stages and content. On a side note, what does Sonic Generations and Elder Scrolls: Skyrim have in common? They're just as old as one another and to this day still a game modified by it's respected communities. If SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics can have a workshop which invites mods to classic Sega games, then can Sonic Mania have it's own workshop? So chances are Sonic Mania will have just as much attention from modders when it comes out. Some ranging from additional characters or changes to brand new zones or entirely new Sonic fan games from the ground up. Classic Sonic games are one of the most modded games I know of.
